Vietnam faces mounting power crunch as AI, rail demand surges

HANOI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam faces growing risks of electricity shortages from 2027 as surging demand from artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor manufacturing and electrified transport puts pressure on the power supply, the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday. The country could face an electricity shortfall of 2.9 billion kWh in 2027, with the projected energy gap widening to 20.7 billion kWh in 2028, 50.4 billion kWh in 2029 and......
