KHORIXAS, 13 May 2026 - The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, Suzan Hambelela Ndjaleka speaks at the mass memorial service of the road accident which took place on 01 May 2026 south of Otjiwarongo in which a bus belonging to the Ministry of Health and Social Services was involved with a goods delivery truck. Family members at the memorial service on Wednesday at Khorixas sports field displayed the deceased framed photographs and cited names of three staff-members of the Ministry of Health and Social Services (Khorixas district hospital) as Metusalem Kamendu, 54, (driver), registered nurse Rebekka Kasheeta, 32, and enrolled nurse Martha Hangolonde, 28. Other victims were Ritha Jod, 18, Lazarus Hamutenya, 9, Nicoline Eises, 34, Elsario Nanuseb, 11, Geraldo Haraeb, 13, and Victoria Kanoutje, 45, who was allegedly travelling with Teyana Zaongara, 13, and Mervin Zaongara, 17.
