Theofelus launches ECC 2026

WINDHOEK, 04 JUN (NAMPA) - Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, on Thursday officially launched the second edition of the Effective Communicators Conference (ECC) 2026, aimed at advancing communication excellence, professional development and meaningful engagement among communication practitioners.
The conference, themed "Communication Reconsidered: A Driving Force for Constant Progress", is an initiative of the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) and will take place in Swakopmund from 14 to 17 July 2026. It is expected to bring together communication professionals from the public and private sectors.
In her remarks, Theofelus said effective communication remains critical in strengthening trust between government, institutions and citizens.
"Communication between government, people and institutions is very important. It's supposed to bring clarity and alignment. It's supposed to build trust between institutions and the citizenry," she said.
The minister said communicators have an important responsibility in an era characterised by rapid technological change and an increasingly complex information environment.
"As communicators, you and I ought to be part and parcel of a driving force for constant progress," she said.
Theofelus subsequently unveiled the conference website and declared registration for the event officially open.
NAMPA Acting Chief Executive Officer Jata Kazondu said the conference has grown significantly since its inaugural edition.
"Last year we had 500 attendees. This year, our confirmation is running to a thousand attendees who will attend this year's conference," he said. Registration is open to communication practitioners, executives and public officials.
Kazondu said the conference forms part of NAMPA's mandate to promote effective communication and information sharing.
