Mercedes-Benz net profit rises despite sales drop

Stuttgart (dpa) - Profit rose in the second quarter for German carmaker Mercedes-Benz despite a drop in sales, the company reported on Tuesday. Its share of the net profit attributable to shareholders for the second quarter was ?1,065 billion ($1.2 billion) compared to ?915 million the prior year.
