Geingos not confirmed for Ondangwa event for women

WINDHOEK, 02 JUN (NAMPA) – Former First Lady Monica Geingos has not confirmed her attendance or participation as a speaker at the Namibian Woman Initiative event scheduled to take place in Ondangwa on 06 June 2026.
The clarification follows the circulation on social media of promotional posters featuring Geingos as one of the speakers at the event.
In a media statement issued on Tuesday, the One Economy Foundation said it had noted promotional material circulating online advertising her as a speaker at the event.
“We have noted with concern promotional material circulating online that advertises Ms Monica Geingos as a speaker at the ‘Namibian Woman Initiative’ event scheduled to take place on 06 June 2026 in Ondangwa,” the statement said.
The foundation clarified that Geingos had not agreed to participate in the event.
“Ms Geingos has neither confirmed her attendance nor agreed to participate as a speaker at this event,” the advisory said.
According to the statement, the use of her name and image in the event’s promotional material is unauthorised and misleading.
One Economy Foundation requested organisers to remove and correct the promotional material.
“We request that the organisers immediately withdraw and correct all promotional material that inaccurately represents Ms Geingos’ involvement in this event,” it said.
