Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson posted Friday a nearly 80 percent plunge in net profit as sales fell while the company faced rising costs and negative currency effects. The company reported net profit of 900 million kronor ($98 million) for the first quarter, down 79 percent from the period a year earlier, as revenues slid 10 percent to 49.3 billion kronor.
