Rescue under way for stranded whale on Germany's Baltic coast

Hamburg (dpa) - A large whale has been found stranded on the Baltic Sea coast in northern Germany, police said on Monday, as rescue efforts were under way to return the animal to the water. The whale was discovered overnight in Niendorf, part of the municipality of Timmendorfer Strand in Lübeck Bay. Police and maritime authorities were attempting to guide the animal back into the sea.
