UK government approves £1bn contract for helicopter maker Leonardo

London (PA Media/dpa) - The UK government has announced a £1 billion ($1.35 billion) contract with helicopter maker Leonardo, which it says will secure 3,300 British jobs. As part of the deal, 23 new medium-lift helicopters will be provided by the company to the UK's armed forces, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
