Commerzbank seeks 'constructive' talks with UniCredit as profits

Frankfurt (dpa) - Commerzbank almost doubled its second-quarter net profit on Thursday and said the stronger earnings performance had strengthened its position for further talks with its largest shareholder, Italy's UniCredit, as the battle for control of the German lender enters a new phase. Net profit rose to ?898 million ($1.04 billion) in the April-June period from ?462 million a year earlier, when earnings were weighed down by restructuring......
