Germany's Merz welcomes US-Iran ceasefire deal, Hormuz reopening

Berlin (dpa) - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Wednesday welcomed the agreement between the US and Iran on a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. "The aim now is to negotiate a lasting end to the war. We are in close coordination with our partners on this matter," Merz wrote on X. Merz also thanked Pakistan for brokering the agreement.
