Namibia records increase in refugees and asylum seekers

WINDHOEK, 10 APR (NAMPA) - The number of refugees and asylum seekers in Namibia has increased to 6 916 this year, up from 6 582 in 2025, according to the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Lucia Iipumbu.
Iipumbu during her budget speech in the National Assembly on Thursday disclosed that most refugees and asylum seekers originate from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
