Pakistan announced a "temporary pause" in hostilities with Afghanistan on Wednesday to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Information minister Attaullah Tarar said the pause for Eid al-Fitr had been requested by "brotherly Islamic countries" Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey for five days from Thursday until midnight on Monday.
