New York, March 2, 2026 (AFP) - US stocks end mixed despite surging energy prices

Major US stock indices finished mixed Monday after a rough start as markets digested a surge in energy prices while the war in Middle East expanded. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 0.2 percent at 48,904.78, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.4 percent to 22,748.86. The broad-based S&P eked out a modest gain of less than 0.1 percent at 6,881.62. All three indices finished well above their session lows. jmb/msp ...
