Hanover, Germany (dpa) - A German court on Friday approved the immediate start of a controversial gas production project off the North Sea island of Borkum. The Higher Administrative Court in Lüneburg rejected an urgent application by the town of Borkum and the island of Juist against the 2024 decision to approve the plan by the office for mining, energy and geology (LBEG) in the north-western state of Lower Saxony.
