Village chieftain killed by IS in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- A village chieftain in Iraq's central province of Salahuddin was killed by the Islamic State (IS) extremist group, local authorities said on Friday. The victim, Fakhri al-Abbasi, was killed "in a cowardly terrorist attack," the media office of Salahuddin's governor said in a statement.
