Nearly 890,000 people affected by floods in South Sudan: UN

UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 890,000 people in South Sudan have been affected by floods, more than twice the number recorded three weeks ago, a UN spokesperson said Monday. Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, told a daily briefing that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that flooding continues across South Sudan due to heavy rains and rising water levels along the Nile River......
