Mayor of German town stabbed at home, family link under investigation

Herdecke, Germany (dpa) - The freshly elected mayor of the western German town of Herdecke has suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing at her home, police said on Tuesday. Iris Stalzer, 57, of the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), sustained multiple stab wounds. Police and the local prosecutor said there was "no indication of a politically motivated crime" and that investigators are considering a possible family-related motive.......
