MEFT monitors Ais-Ais Resort over wastewater drainage concerns

AI-AIS, 24 September 2016 – The Ai-Ais resort in the far south of Namibia is popular with tourists from all over the world, especially from South Africa, Germany and Australia. Visitors enjoy swimming in the warm water pool that gets its water from a natural underground source. Ai-Ais resort sits on a bank alongside the Fish River, and is surrounded by mountains. WINDHOEK, 02 AUG (NAMPA) -The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) said that it is closely monitoring Namibia Wildlife Resorts’ (NWR) response to a serious drainage blockage at the Ais-Ais Resort campsite.
This follows recent social media reports raising concerns about untreated wastewater flowing into the Fish River, as well as risks to environmental health and visitor safety.
