Members of the Social Democratic party (SPD) party react to the first exit polls of the Rhineland-Palatinate's state elections on March 22, 2026 at the regional parliament in Mainz, southwestern Germany. According to forecasts for ARD and ZDF, the Christian Democrats, led by top candidate Gordon Schnieder, achieved 30.5 percent, while the Social Democrats of Minister President Alexander Schweitzer reached between 26.5 and 27.0 percent. In third place came the AfD with 20.0 percent, ahead of the Greens with 7.5 to 8.5 percent.
