(251015) -- LHASA, Oct. 15, 2025 (Xinhua) -- Tawa Tsering plays Yangqin in Lhasa, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, Oct. 11, 2025. Twenty-six-year-old Tawa Tsering is a musician of band "Kardag Garbo," the first band in Xizang composed of visually impaired members. The band was established in 2014 and its name means pure white Khata, a ceremonial white scarf symbolizing goodwill and blessings.
In 2019, Tawa Tsering joined the band and began to learn playing flute and Yangqin. In addition to performing, he handles the band's daily affairs, such as arranging performances, exploring business collaborations, and booking performance venues.
Music opened a vast world for Tawa Tsering and also led him to love. He married Bumchok, sister of the band's founder, and is now father of two children.
"If life is entirely wasted just because of a physical disability, it would be the greatest regret," this is the shared belief of the members of the band. Every summer, they tour villages and towns to stage performances. "We hold performances every year to encourage people like us through concrete actions," said Tawa Tsering. (Xinhua/Zhang Cheng)
