Number of Jobless Claims in US Rises More Than Expected, to 209,000 - Labor Department

MOSCOW, August 13 (RIA Novosti) - The number of initial unemployment claims in the United States increased by 9,000 to 209,000 in the week ending August 8, compared with a revised 200,000 in the previous week, the US Labor Department said on Thursday. Analysts surveyed by the Trading Economics portal expected the figure to rise to 202,000 from the previous week's initial level of 199,000.
