German states to allow Sunday trucking due to record low Rhine waters

Mainz, Germany (dpa) - Due to critically low water levels on the Rhine, two western German states will exceptionally allow hauliers to run loads on Sundays and holidays to ensure supply chains do not fail in the absence of river transport. Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland said on Friday they will temporarily suspend the ban on Sunday driving for certain truck shipments and related empty truck runs.
