Bayreuth, Germany (dpa) - Top Berlin politicians including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and ex-chancellor Angela Merkel turned out in force in the southern state of Bavaria on Saturday to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Bayreuth Festival. Composer Richard Wagner (1813-83) staged the opera festival for the first time 150 years ago in the Bavarian city. There was no opera production to open the festival on Saturday evening. In......
