Russia's military said Tuesday that rebels and jihadists in Mali who seized a key town in an offensive were "regrouping" and that the situation was still "difficult". Russia's Africa Corps paramilitary unit, deployed to support Mali's ruling junta, was forced to abandon the key northern town of Kidal in fighting over the weekend, Moscow's defence ministry confirmed in a statement on social media.
