Legendary Belgian cyclist Eddy Merckx has been hospitalised with a hip infection and faces surgery, according to Belgian media on Thursday. "As I was in a lot of pain, I was admitted to hospital last Monday," he told Flemish daily Het Laatste Nieuws.
