Germany beefs up naval presence in North Atlantic

Singapore (dpa) - Germany is stepping up its naval presence in the North Atlantic to relieve its allies, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said Tuesday on the sidelines of his visit to Singapore. As the UK is redeploying its destroyer HMS Dragon to the Mediterranean, the German frigate Sachsen will be deployed as the flagship of the permanent NATO task force, Pistorius added.
