A left-wing candidate is set to claw his way to a victory in a race for the mayor of Paris on Sunday, extending the Socialists' quarter-century rule of the French capital, several polls suggested ahead of the crucial second-round runoff. According to the Elabe institute, Emmanuel Gregoire is credited with 45.5 percent of voting intentions, just ahead of his main rival, right-wing former culture minister Rachida Dati on 44.5 percent.
