Record 65 mln USD lost in online banking fraud in Japan in 2025

TOKYO, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Fraudulent online banking transfers in Japan in 2025 resulted in a record loss of around 10.4 billion yen (about 65.39 million U.S. dollars), the National Police Agency (NPA) said Thursday. Of the damage, up about 1.7 billion yen from a year before, individuals accounted for about 55 percent, while companies accounted for around 45 percent.
