German import prices rise more than expected in January

Berlin (dpa-AFX) - German import prices rose at a faster-than-expected pace in January but remained lower compared to last year due to a steep fall in energy prices, preliminary data from the statistical office Destatis showed on Friday. The import price index rose 1.1% month-on-month, same as in December, data showed. Economists had expected an increase of 0.6 percent.
