Berlin (dpa) - Germany's conservative CDU party is positioning itself against a further loosening of the country's debt brake, a constitutional rule that limits government debt. In a motion adopted at a conference of Chancellor Friedrich Merz's party on Saturday in Stuttgart, members pledged not to further soften the debt limit.
