US consumer prices rise faster than expected in December

Washington (dpa-AFX) - A report released by the Commerce Department on Friday showed US consumer prices rose slightly more than expected in December, as inflation ticked higher at the end of the year. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index increased 0.4% in December after edging up 0.2% in November. Economists had forecast a 0.3% rise.
