Missing private firearms in Germany nearly double in eight years

Berlin (dpa) - The number of privately owned weapons reported missing in Germany has almost doubled within eight years, the Interior Ministry told dpa on Wednesday. At the end of 2025, a total of 47,335 weapons were registered as stolen or lost in the national weapons register, the ministry said.
