NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Friday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.73 percent to 96.989 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1865 dollars from 1.1951 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3696 dollars from 1.3802 dollars in the previous session.
