Russia withdrew troops and equipment on Tuesday from an airport in Kurdish-held northeast Syria where its forces were based, as an AFP correspondent saw the base devoid of Russian flags and aircraft spotted the previous day. The departure comes as Kurdish forces who once controlled swathes of territory in the country's north and east have withdrawn in the face of military pressure, as the country's new Islamist authorities seek to extend control......
