U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.64 percent to 49,412.4. The S&P 500 added 0.5 percent to 6,950.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 0.43 percent to 23,601.36. Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended higher, with communication services and technology leading the gainers by rising 1.32 percent and 0.84 percent, respectively.
