Turkey trims interest rates, cites easing inflation

Istanbul (dpa-AFX) - Turkey's central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by 100 basis points on Thursday, citing a continued easing in the underlying trend of inflation. The Monetary Policy Committee lowered the benchmark policy rate to 37% from 38%. The overnight lending rate was cut to 40% from 41%, while the overnight borrowing rate was reduced to 35.5% from 36.5%.
