German shoe firm Deichmann loses shoebox battle in court

Dusseldorf (dpa) - The German shoe company Deichmann has suffered a defeat in court in a dispute over waste costs. Deichmann had sought to be exempted from a system participation obligation, which requires companies to pay for the disposal and recycling of packaging that ends up with private consumers. However, the Gelsenkirchen Administrative Court dismissed Deichmann's lawsuit, and an appeal was not permitted. The disposal system is monitored......
