New mayor of western German town found with serious stab wounds

Dortmund, Germany (dpa) - The freshly elected mayor of a western German town has been found with life-threatening injuries at her home. Iris Stalzer, from the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), suffered multiple stab wounds, security sources told dpa on Tuesday. A major police operation is currently under way in the town of Herdecke, a spokesman for the police in the neighbouring city of Hagen said, without giving further details. The 57......
