US producer prices unexpectedly edge slightly lower in August

Washington (dpa-AFX) - US producer prices fell slightly in August, reflecting a pullback in trade services, the Labor Department said Wednesday. The producer price index (PPI) for final demand edged down 0.1% after a downwardly revised 0.7% increase in July. Economists had expected a 0.3% rise.
