1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.45 percent to 3,858.13 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.14 percent lower at 12,553.84 points. The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.87 trillion yuan (about 403.72 billion U.S. dollars) -- up from 2.75 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
