Abdilaahi betters 28-year-old German 5,000m record

Berlin (dpa) - Mohamed Abdilaahi on Friday bettered the German 5,000 metres record of Olympic champion Dieter Baumann which stood for 28 years. Abdilaahi, 26, clocked 12 minutes 53.63 seconds at the Diamond League meet in Monaco to take 1.07 off the mark of 12:54.70 Baumann ran 1997 in Zurich.
