Eastern German state says it met 2030 EU climate target last year

Potsdam, Germany (dpa) - Greenhouse gas emissions in the German state of Brandenburg were down by 57% last year compared to 1990, meaning the state has already reached the EU's 2030 climate target, state Economy Minister Daniel Keller said on Thursday. The European Union is aiming to limit greenhouse gas emissions - considered the main driver behind global warming - by 55% compared to 1990 levels by the end of the decade.
