Lufthansa plane forced to turn back over Atlantic due to engine fault

Frankfurt (dpa) - A Lufthansa aircraft en route from New York to Frankfurt was forced to turn back due to an engine failure over the Atlantic, the German carrier said on Wednesday. "A significant increase in fuel consumption was recorded on one engine during the climb," Lufthansa told dpa upon request about the incident on May 13, adding the engine failed during the subsequent cruise flight.
