Second Berlin HIV patient cured, says he is 'very well'

Berlin (dpa) - Thomas Kahlert, an employee of Berlin's Charité Hospital for 38 years and known as the "second Berlin patient," said he is "very well" on Wednesday at the opening of the Charité's new HIV cure research centre, BeCURE. He is one of 13 people worldwide who are considered cured of HIV. Kahlert, now 62, was found to have HIV during a routine examination in 2009.
