A French court will this week hear an appeal from cinema icon Gerard Depardieu against an order that he should stand trial on charges of raping an actor in 2018, judicial sources and sources close to case said on Wednesday. Depardieu's lawyers will present their arguments at a closed-door session of the Paris court of appeal on Thursday and seek to have the case dropped, the sources told AFP, asking not to be named.
