'Anchor' Eggestein extends Freiburg deal

Berlin (dpa) - Freiburg have extended the contract of midfielder Maximilian Eggestein. As usual, the Bundesliga club did not say how long the 29-year-old has signed for, but were gushing in their praise. "In every development process of a team, you need anchors. Maxi is a key anchor of our team," board member for sport Jochen Saier said in a statement on Thursday. Eggestein joined Freiburg from Werder Bremen in 2021 and helped them to runners-up......
