Mutiny attempt in Niger's capital brought under control: defense ministry

NIAMEY, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Niger's Ministry of National Defense said on Saturday that it had brought under control a mutiny attempt involving a group of soldiers at Air Base 101 in Niamey, the country's capital. According to a statement issued by the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland, a group of soldiers "who had breached military discipline and regulations" attempted to detain some of their comrades at Air Base 101.
