WASHINGTON, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Republican Party is trailing behind their Democratic counterparts by 8 points on the generic congressional ballot, an Emerson College poll revealed on Thursday. Accordingly, 50.7% of the polled said they would vote for a Democratic candidate if the 2026 midterm election is held "today", against 43% choosing to back a Republican​​​.
