German hiker dies after fall in Austrian Alps

Vienna (dpa) - A 36-year-old German hiker died after falling 50 to 100 metres during a mountain tour in the Austrian Alps, police said on Thursday. The man was hiking with his father-in-law and two brothers-in-law in the Zillertal Alps in Tyrol when he lost his footing on a narrow trail during the descent. He was unable to grab a steel safety cable and fell over steep, rocky terrain. His companions climbed down to him and attempted to revive him......
