Italy's Unicredit on Tuesday unveiled a 16.1 percent rise in first quarter net profit to a record 3.2 billion euros year-on-year, boosted by an increase in fees and lower costs. Italy's second-largest bank, which is seeking to acquire German competitor Commerzbank, saw earnings rise by 4.9 percent to 6.9 billion euros, Unicredit said in a statement.
